A man has faced the court today charged with 16 offences after firearms were seized in the State's Central West region.
In November 2025, Western Region Enforcement Squad commenced Strike Force Lazard to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs into western NSW.
Following extensive inquiries, yesterday (Tuesday 7 July 2026), investigators executed a search warrant at an address on the Mid-Western Highway at Fitzgeralds Mount.
During a search of the home, police allegedly located and seized five firearms, ammunition, a suppressor, knuckle dusters, and a crossbow.
Following further inquiries, today (Wednesday 8 July 2026), a 58-year-old man attended Blayney Police Station where he was arrested.
He was then taken to Bathurst Police Station where he was charged with 16 offences,
- Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (three counts)
- Supply prohibited drug more than small and less than or equal to indictable quantity
- Possess prohibited drug
- Possess unauthorised prohibited firearm (two counts)
- Possess unregistered firearm prohibited firearm
- Deface identification mark on firearm or part
- Possess more than three unregistered firearms without licence and permit
- Use unauthorised firearm (three counts)
- Possess ammunition without holding licence or permit or authority
- Not keep firearm safely not pistol or prohibited firearm, and
- Not keep firearm safely prohibited firearm.
The man was bail refused to appear at Local Bail Division – Court 4 today (Wednesday 8 July 2026).
