After a yearlong hiatus, The University of Texas at Arlington's Maverick Speakers Series is back in a new virtual format for its 13th season.

Vivek Wadhwa, technology entrepreneur and bestselling author, kicks off the new Virtual Maverick Speakers Series this month. The talk will be livestreamed at uta.edu/maverickspeakers and is free to watch.

Wadhwa will speak on "Navigating Technological Change at Light Speed" on Thursday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m. His latest book, Your Happiness Was Hacked: Why Tech is Winning the Battle to Control Your Brain—and How to Fight Back, was published in 2018.

Wadhwa is an entrepreneur, academic, and author whose research focuses on critical advances in robotics, artificial intelligence, and computing—and how these advances are creating disruptive changes.

He is a distinguished fellow at Harvard Law School and Carnegie Mellon University's College of Engineering, as well as a syndicated columnist for The Washington Post.

The Maverick Speakers Series provides a forum for today's brightest minds to examine the ideas, actions, solutions, and people that impact the world around us. In previous years, the series has featured such renowned voices as Jack Hanna, Terry Crews, Anna Deavere Smith, Seth Meyers, Emmitt Smith, Soledad O'Brien, Bill Nye, Jane Goodall, and more.
