Mounted Ops Bids Farewell to P.H. Windsor After 20 Years

Today, South Australia Police celebrates the remarkable career of P.H. Windsor, who, at 22 years old, has officially retired from duty.

Windsor joined the Mounted Operations Unit as a two-year-old and went on to provide two decades of loyal and distinguished service to the South Australian community.

During his career, Windsor contributed more than 2,000 operational hours and was deployed on 396 operational deployments, including 17 public order deployments and 19 search operations. Throughout his service, he proved to be a dependable and professional police horse, playing an important role in community engagement, public safety and operational policing.

More than just a highly valued operational partner, Windsor has been a calming presence in the community and a cherished member of the Mounted Operations Unit family.

Senior Sergeant First Class Kelly-Anne Taylor APM, Officer in Charge of the Mounted Operations Unit, said Windsor had left a lasting legacy within the unit and the wider community.

"Windsor has been a valued member of our Mounted Operations Unit for 20 years, serving the community with distinction, professionalism and a calm presence. We thank him for his outstanding service and wish him a long, happy and well-deserved retirement," Senior Sergeant Taylor said.

As he begins his well-earned retirement, Windsor will enjoy life in the beautiful surrounds of Langhorne Creek, grazing green paddocks and receiving the care and affection he so richly deserves.

South Australia Police thanks Windsor for his outstanding service and wishes him many happy and healthy years ahead.
