International education providers can now apply for grant funding to deliver familiarisation programs to showcase Western Australia as a study destination and promote the experiences the State has to offer.
Through the $1 million International Education Familiarisation Program, WA providers can apply to receive up to $50,000 in grant funding per familiarisation program.
The program will allow key overseas stakeholders to experience WA firsthand so they can promote the State to prospective international students, and raise awareness of international education offerings through training, networking, site visits, and tourism experiences.
Two categories of familiarisations will be supported by the program: the Education Trade Familiarisations - hosted by the McGowan Government's Education Business Development Managers - and the Collaborative Familiarisation Fund, accessible to the WA international education sector.
In the 2022-23 State Budget, the McGowan Government announced $41.2 million in funding for international education initiatives, including $1 million in funding for the International Education Familiarisation Program.
In addition to the International Education Familiarisation Program, the McGowan Government has announced it will continue funding for two complementary StudyPerth initiatives.
StudyPerth will receive $423,000 from the WA Government to provide the international education sector with access to activities to enhance their familiarisation programs.
Recognising that providing a warm welcome to visitors is a key aspect in promoting the State as an attractive study destination, the McGowan Government has also committed $195,000 to StudyPerth to continue the international student welcome service at Perth Airport through Semester 1, 2023.

"Temporary student visa arrivals have recovered significantly in recent months, but with countries all over the world competing for the same pool of students, it's important we do more to create awareness of what Western Australia can provide to international students.
"We know that people who travel to Western Australia fall in love with all it has to offer.
"This program is an opportunity to showcase what we already know as Western Australians - our State is the best place in the world for international students to study and live."
