Nominate now for 2020 We Are Brimbank Awards

Council is delighted to announce nominations are now open for the 2020 We Are Brimbank Awards.

The We Are Brimbank Awards recognise the exceptional contributions, hard work and determination of organisations and community groups making a positive difference within Brimbank.

Brimbank Mayor, Cr Georgina Papafotiou said we have many incredible organisations and community groups in Brimbank, and we want to recognise and celebrate all the amazing work they do to make our municipality so great.

'The awards are a fantastic way to acknowledge all the hard work, the great projects and community groups making a positive difference to Brimbank.

'We recognise the impacts from COVID-19 will be significant and this year will be very different for many. Extraordinary things are being achieved in extraordinary times, and these awards are another way we can help recognise and pay tribute to community minded groups and organisations.

'We are a proud community and we have seen the community adapting and changing during this time. These Awards are a way to support our community, and great opportunity to celebrate the achievements and potential of the City of Brimbank.

'If you know of a project, organisation or community group that deserves to be nominated, don't hesitate - nominate now by completing the online form on Council's website,' said Cr Papafotiou.

There are five categories open for nomination:

  • Culture, Arts & Tourism Award: Demonstrated outstanding contribution to the rich cultural, heritage, tourism and artistic fabric of the Brimbank community.
  • Environment & Sustainability Award: Demonstrated outstanding contribution to the protection, enhancement and awareness of Brimbank's natural and urban environment.
  • Employment & Enterprise Award: Demonstrated outstanding contribution to the prosperity of Brimbank.
  • Inclusive Brimbank Award: Demonstrated outstanding contribution to promoting participation in community life and supporting proud, safe and healthy citizens.
  • Learning Excellence Award: Demonstrated outstanding contribution to the ongoing education, learning and engagement of the Brimbank community.

A panel of community leaders, convened by the Brimbank Mayor, will judge the nominations and the winners will be announced at a special event on Thursday 10 September 2020.
