Pedestrian dies after crash at Stanwell Park

A pedestrian has died after a utility crashed into a power pole and front fence of a home in Stanwell Park earlier today.

About 8.30am today (Wednesday 18 November 2020), emergency services were called to the corner of Lawrence Hargrave Drive and Railway Crescent, Stanwell Park, following reports a vehicle had struck a power line.

Officers from Wollongong Police District attended and established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Police have been told a white utility struck a power pole, before colliding with the occupant of a home in the front yard.

The 57-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to St George Hospital, where he died a short time later.

The driver of the utility, a 40-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Investigations are continuing.
