On Wednesday, November 4, the City of Swan took home a Commendation Award at the Public Health Advocacy Institute of Western Australia Local Government Policy Awards in the category of Climate Change.

The annual ceremony, now in its tenth year, celebrates excellence in local government policy across the State, focussing on making a positive impact to children's health and the environment.

The City considers the impact of climate change on young people at a strategic level through its Strategic Community Plan 2017 – 2027 and Youth Strategy. This strategic work flows into our programs and initiatives like the Thinking Green workshops, worm farm subsidies, our waste education trailer, youth centre workshops and environmental friends groups.

The City recognises that the topic of climate change is particularly important to young people and will continue to prioritise community education, advocacy and meaningful action towards a healthier environment.
