A man will appear in court tomorrow charged over an alleged kidnapping in Sydney's North Shore at the weekend.
Officers from North Shore Police Area Command commenced an investigation yesterday (Tuesday 3 November 2020), after reports a 22-year-old man was allegedly harassed, kidnapped and threatened with a firearm by a man known to him on Sunday (1 November 2020).
Following inquiries, with assistance from the Tactical Operations Unit, a 57-year-old man was arrested at a petrol station on Hoxton Park Road, Lurnea, about 10.40pm yesterday. He was taken to Liverpool Police Station.
About 3.30am today (Wednesday 4 November 2020), a warrant was executed at the man's home in Smithfield, where police seized a firearm, ammunition and clothing relevant to the investigation.
The man was charged with take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, firearm found at premises subject to prohibition order, use carriage service to menace/harass/offend and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm.
Police will allege in court that the men met in a carpark in Cremorne about 1pm on Sunday (1 November 2020), where the younger man was forced into the older man's vehicle and threatened with a firearm as they drove around Sydney, before he was dropped back home.
He was refused bail to appear before Liverpool Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 5 November 2020).
