Police charge man with drug importation offences at Parramatta

A man will face court today charged with drug offences after allegedly attempting to import prohibited drugs into the country from overseas.

In August 2020, officers from Parramatta Police Area Command Proactive Crime Team (PCT) commenced an investigation after Australian Border Force (ABF) intercepted a parcel from overseas.

An examination of the parcel by ABF officers revealed almost one kilogram of methylamphetamine. The estimated street value of the drug is nearly $300,000.

The drugs were seized and will undergo further forensic examination.

Following inquiries, Investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Constitution Hill yesterday (Thursday 10 September 2020).

A 29-year-old man was arrested at the property and taken to Parramatta Police Station.

He was charged with importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug.

The man was refused bail and will face Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 11 September 2020).

Inquiries are continuing.
