Police investigate after stolen car crashes at Waterloo

Police are investigating after a stolen vehicle crashed in Inner Sydney early this morning.

About 4.30am (Saturday 27 June 2020), officers from South Sydney Police Area Command were patrolling the Waterloo area when they saw a Ford Falcon stopped on Pitt Street, before driving off without its lights on.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle nearby on Botany Road, however it failed to stop and was last seen turning left into Bourke Street.

Shortly after, the Ford was found on Lachlan Street after crashing into an apartment block, causing minor damage.

Police have been two people were seen fleeing from the vehicle and established a perimeter. Despite a search of the area, with the assistance of the Dog Unit, they could not be located.

Inquiries revealed the Ford was stolen from a Wollongong suburb earlier this week.

The vehicle was seized and officers from South Sydney Police Area Command have commenced an investigation into the incident.
