Police investigate Shepparton armed robbery

Detectives from Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit are investigating following an armed robbery in Shepparton this morning.

Investigators have been told a man and woman were walking along Maude Street when they were approached by an unknown man from behind about 4.20am.

The male offender asked for a cigarette before producing a knife and threatening the pair.

A demand for money was made and the 21-year-old male victim handed over an amount of cash before the offender fled south on foot on Maude Street.

The couple, aged 20 and 21 from Nathalia, were not physically injured during the incident.

The offender is perceived to be African in appearance and was wearing dark coloured pants and a black puffer jacket.

He had a black and white patterned face covering on at the time.
