Police investigating after two teens injured in brawl at Newtown

Police have commenced an investigation and are appealing for information following a brawl in Newtown overnight during which two teenagers were injured.

About 12.30am today (Saturday 21 October 2020), police were called to a park at Newtown following reports of a brawl between two groups of people.

Police were told an 18-year-old man was punched unconscious before being kicked in the head several times.

When a second 18-year-old man attempted to intervene, he was allegedly pushed and punched in the face.

Three bystanders went to the aid of the unconscious teen, assisting him into a white Subaru Forrester, before two men allegedly jumped on the bonnet of the vehicle, while a third man used a glass bottle to smash the Subaru's headlights.

A short time later, the 18-year-old male driver of the Forrester stopped at Australia Street, Newtown, where the injured teen was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment to head and facial injuries and remains in a stable condition.

Officers spoke to several people at the scene and two teenagers were issued with move on directions.

As investigations into the incident continue, police are appealing for anyone with information, or who may have mobile phone or dashcam vision from the area, to come forward.
