Police lay charges – Stealing – Millner

Strike Force Trident officers have arrested a 16-year-old male for stealing.

Around 3:40pm on Wednesday 17 June 2020, the youth and another male attended a business in Millner where they allegedly stole several pairs of shoes and two large machetes. The pair then fled the scene.

Yesterday afternoon, police sighted the 16-year-old in Millner and attempted to engage with him. He ran from police and threw an item into bushland.

Police located the youth several minutes later and went to place him under arrest. The 16-year-old allegedly resisted arrest and attempted to push and throw police officers. He was eventually placed under arrest.

Police searched the area the youth had thrown an item and located one of the machetes that was reported as stolen.

The youth has been charged with:

  • stealing
  • resist police in execution of duty
  • possess controlled weapon in a public place.

He will appear in court today.

Police have identified the second person of interest and are seeking his whereabouts.
