Proponents encouraged to consolidate PoW applications

WA Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety

Recently, the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) has seen an increasing number of applicants submitting multiple Programme of Work (PoW) applications on the same and/or nearby tenements, when they could be submitted under the one application.

DMIRS receives a significant number of PoW applications on an ongoing basis due to the strong performance of Western Australia's resources sector.

On occasion, it can be practical to submit multiple applications for the same tenement. This may include applications for specific areas of sensitivity, such as reserves, sensitive habitats, or extremely large programmes that can cause system problems.

In general, however, submitting one PoW application for the area will lead to a more streamlined and efficient process, resulting in more timely decisions.
