Women across Casey are being encouraged to lace up their boots and try Australian Rules Football through a six-week beginner-friendly program, delivered by Melbourne Football Club, the City of Casey and Casey Girls Can.
Starting on Friday 31 July, the 2026 Women's Football Program is designed for women of all ages and fitness levels, whether they are completely new to football, haven't played since school, or are simply looking for a fun way to get active and connect with others.
Participants will learn fundamental football skills from Melbourne Football Club coaches in a welcoming and inclusive environment, while building confidence, improving fitness and forming new friendships. The program will also provide pathways for women interested in exploring local football opportunities across Casey.
To make it easy for mums to join in, AFL Victoria is offering free Auskick for children aged four and over to women. Any mums registered in the program can take part while their children enjoy football activities at the same time.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen said the program reflects Council's commitment to creating more opportunities for women and girls to participate in sport and physical activity.
"This program is about much more than learning football skills - it's about giving women the confidence to try something new, meet people in their community and discover what they are capable of," he said.
"Whether you've never picked up a football before or you're returning to the game after many years, this welcoming program provides a fantastic opportunity to get active, have fun and experience the many benefits of community sport."
