Residents encouraged to join Bushfire Recovery Community Grants Advisory Panel

Kempsey Shire Council is calling on community members to nominate themselves to join the Bushfire Recovery Community Grants Advisory Panel.

Council has allocated $200,000 from the National Bushfire Recovery Agency funding towards a Bushfire Recovery Community Grants Program.

The program will award grants of up to $20,000 to support new or existing projects or events that directly help the community with its recovery from the 2019 bushfires.

The panel will assess grant applications Council receives under the program and will make recommendations to which projects receive the funding.

Council's Recovery Coordinator, Jo McGoldrick, said residents interested in being on the panel are encouraged to submit an application before Tuesday, 7 July.

"Panel members will be required to attend meetings, assess grant applications and assist in determining the local projects that would benefit the most from the funding," she said.

"Eligibility for the panel will be based on those who have a broad understanding of the issues and impacts our shire experienced as a result of last summer's bushfire season."
