Serious assault police in Tarzali, QLD

Police have charged a 32-year-old man following an incident in Tarzali overnight, Queensland Police say.

Police will allege an officer from Malanda station was responding to an incident at a Hogan Hosie Road address when he was confronted by a 32-year-old man holding a beer bottle.

The man allegedly threw the glass beer bottle at the officer, striking him in the back of the head.

The officer has used a conductive energy weapon to subdue and arrest the man.

The 32-year-old Tarzali man has been charged with obstruct and serious assault police with an offensive instrument causing bodily harm.  He is due to appear at the Atherton Magistrates Court later today.
