Significant stealing charges

Financial Crimes Squad detectives have charged a woman in relation to the alleged stealing of more than $560,000 from her employer.

It will be alleged a staff member at a medical clinic in the southern suburbs took advantage of the access she had to her employer's credit card and bank account and conducted unauthorised transactions.

The alleged offences include more than $415,000 worth of bank transfer transactions between 2011 and 2020, where it is alleged the woman transferred money into bank accounts owned by herself, her family members or companies that provided a product or benefit to her or her family members. Examples include:

- Funds transfer to a finance company to pay towards a personal car loan.

- Funds transfer to a finance company to pay towards a loan in the name of a family member.

- Funds transfer to partially pay for carpet installed at her family home.

- Dozens of bank transfers to personal banks accounts or those of her family members.

In addition to the alleged bank transfer offences, it is alleged the woman made just over $150,000 worth of unauthorised purchases on her employer's credit card between 2014 and 2021. Examples include:

- Artwork for her family home.

- Dozens of purchases of online websites (clothing, jewellery, homewares, etc)

- Partial payment towards overseas holidays to UK and Europe for herself and a family member

- Domestic air travel for herself and a family member

- Electronic products for personal use

On Friday 1 April 2022 detectives from the Financial Crimes Squad executed a search warrant at a residence in Wanneroo, where it will be alleged many items linked to the investigation were located and seized.

A 61-year-old woman from Wanneroo has been charged with 43 counts of 'Stealing as a Servant' and is due to appear in the Fremantle Magistrates Court today, Friday 22 April 2022.
