Year 11 and 12 student end-of-year exams underway

Roger Jaensch, Minister for Education, Children and Youth

Year 11 and 12 students studying Level 3 and 4 courses start their exam period this week.

More than 6,300 Tasmanian senior secondary students will undertake one or more external assessments during the 2023 assessment period.

These external assessments include oral, practical, performance and project assessments as well as the written exams, with the exam period finishing on Friday 17 November.

Minister for Education, Children and Youth, Roger Jaensch, said end of year exams are milestone assessments for many Tasmanian young people with the completion of Level 3 and 4 courses enabling them to achieve a Tertiary Entrance Score.

"The exams are one aspect of continuous assessment and have an important role in establishing a student's achievement comparable to all other students in that course across the State," Minister Jaensch said.

"To the students sitting exams this year, I encourage you to continue to apply yourself and to be confident in what you can achieve as you continue to pursue your goals for the future.

"Your teachers, your family and friends, and everyone who has sat an exam, are supporting you as you get ready to demonstrate what you have learnt."

Resources are available to help students succeed in their external assessments, ranging from Exam Ready Study Tips and a Study Planner through to Tips for Staying CALM during an Exam and up to five years of previous Exam Papers for revision and practice.

All of Tasmania's Year 11 and 12 students will receive the results for their 2023 courses from Wednesday 13 December.

Results are sent to the email address students nominate, as well as by mail. Students can update the email address to receive their results using the form on the TASC website.
