Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery today announced the appointment of MCG Architects to design Eaton Community College's new design and technology block.
The new $7 million design and technology block is set to include a commercial and domestic food studio with room for a café and a textiles studio.
The revamp, which is a McGowan Government election commitment, includes a mechatronics lab, woodwork/machine workshop and a metalwork room.
The plans for the new building also include a new student hub, design and planning room and an external work area.
An adjacent staff study area will be refurbished and incorporated into the new building structure.
The project is expected to be completed in early 2024.
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
"It's important for students in Western Australia to have access to a well-rounded education that helps them to carve out a path beyond the classroom.
"Design and technology pursuits have always been a key part of secondary schooling, and this new dedicated design and technology building will have the latest computer enhanced systems to ensure students at Eaton Community College benefit from the modern facilities.
"It's an exciting step into the future for students and families at Eaton Community College."
