Break-in results in arrest at Hillbank, South Australia

A family has detained a man after he allegedly broke into their home in Hillbank, stole their property and attempted to steal their car.

About 5.30am on Friday 6 November, Northern District patrols were called to Victor Place after a call from residents of a home advising that they had detained a man who had broken into their house and stolen property including wallet, electronics and clothing. Police will allege he then entered the family car with the stolen property.

However the offender did not anticipate the efforts of the residents who stopped him whilst he was seated in the vehicle parked in the driveway.

The two family members detained the man until police arrived on scene and arrested the 18-year-old man from Elizabeth Grove.

He was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, theft and illegal interference. He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today.
