Brimbank welcomes extra measures for testing

Brimbank Mayor Cr Georgina Papafotiou

has welcomed the Victorian Government's priority suburb coronavirus testing blitz, which along with seven others, will take in Keilor Downs, Sunshine West and Albanvale.

The Victorian Government today announced the testing blitz where residents of these suburbs will receive free testing, with or without symptoms for the next ten days and Mayor Papafotiou has encouraged community members to take part.

"Any outbreak of COVID-19 in a community is a concern. Council's number one priority is the health, wellbeing and safety of our residents, while ensuring those impacted economically and financially are also supported.

"I acknowledge the work of the State Government and the Department of Health of Human Services (DHHS), for the leadership that has been shown to help our community through the COVID-19 Pandemic. This testing blitz is one more way health authorities can determine what is going on in our communities and how we can prevent it spreading further.

"Council will support the testing initiative anyway we can. We all have a responsibility to each other to help slow the spread of this virus."
