Chalmers takes place in GoCo Arena

Chalmers University of Technology

Chalmers takes place as a founding partner in the GoCo Arena, a platform where Chalmers gets opportunities to contribute to knowledge, competence and solutions in health and technology, one of Chalmers' areas of advance.

GoCo Arena is part of GoCo Health Innovation City, a venture with the ambition to become a world-leading innovation cluster in health and technology. The work with GoCo Health Innovation City started almost three years ago at AstraZeneca's facility in Mölndal. Since then, GoCo Arena has developed as a collaborative platform for academia, research and business with a focus on collaboration and knowledge exchange.

"To Chalmers, the scientific field where technology meets health is extremely important," says President Stefan Bengtsson.
"it is an area where we already have great assets today but will become even more important. In addition to that, the Chalmers DNA of combining scientific excellence with a collaborative spirit and close relationship to the industry and society - it is obvious that we should be engaged in creating an innovation community for health and technology."
Chalmers has already been an active part of the development, not least within GoCo Active.
"It has been exciting to participate in the development of GoCo Active and a future center of excellence in Sports Medicine, which now creates opportunities for researchers from Chalmers to collaborate in sports-related research in a unique way", says Ann-Sofie Cans, Director of Health Engineering Area of Advance at Chalmers.

"Now when Chalmers becomes a Founding Partner, opportunities are created to also participate in the establishment of similar arenas for collaboration, for example, cell and gene therapy as well as other important areas in health where both University of Gothenburg and Chalmers have great research.", says Anne-Sofie Cans.

Mats Lundqvist, Vice President of Utilization, will work and develop the strategic relationship.
"Health and technology or "Health tech" as the area is called, is something Chalmers wants to contribute to within the framework of the GoCo arena. We see great value in GoCo as a platform not only for research, but also for entrepreneurship and industrial development. In collaboration with companies, Sahlgrenska Academy and the university hospital, we want to contribute to realizing the potential of the research that exists within leading Scandinavian Life science."
