As a grandfather I regularly visit Goldfields Family Centre either to drop off or pickup my granddaughter. This is just one of the many services that council provide for our community.

Here on offer is a full range of integrated family services including long day care, 3/4 year old kindergarten, supported play group. Along with maternal and child health including infant immunisation and visiting specialist services.

In the council plan a strategic objective is to not only retain young people, but to actively attract new ones to the shire. This can be achieved by ensuring employment opportunities are available across a range of disciplines.

This in turn leads to the need for new homes, spending money locally, contributing to a circular economy. This has a trickle down effect to schools, trades, retail, sporting clubs, hospitality, plus a range of social benefits.

Today, out of necessity it is common that both partners in a relationship find it necessary to work, and those with young families require help so that they can pursue a career. High on their agenda is the availability of reliable child care and maternal health services.

Arriving at the Centre you are met by friendly staff who are obliging, caring, and courteous. They monitor the children at all times both indoors and outdoors whilst the children are learning, socialising, and having fun.

I know from experience that my family are extremely grateful for the range of services offered at this 'one stop shop', a view that I'm quite sure many young families share.
