Cyclist critical after crash at Rockdale

A cyclist has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after being hit by a car in Sydney's south.

Just before 11am today (Saturday 21 November 2020), emergency services were called to the intersection of the Princes Highway and Lister Avenue at Rockdale, following reports a cyclist had been hit by a car.

The cyclist, a 27-year-old man, was treated at the scene by an off-duty paramedic before ambulance crews arrived.

He was taken to St George Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old woman, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from St George Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Local road closures and traffic diversions are in place and motorists are urged to avoid the area.
