Firearms and stolen car found at Elizabeth Downs

A man will appear in court today after a stolen car, firearms, drugs and a pipe bomb were found at Elizabeth Downs.

Police will allege that about 12.20pm on Tuesday 10 November, officers searched the Dockett Road property and located methamphetamine, cannabis and fireworks inside the house.

In the backyard, a Holden Captiva was found after it had been stolen from a Pennington house in September. It was towed from the scene to be forensically analysed.

In a hidden room inside a backyard shed, police located a rifle, a replica pistol, various firearm parts, ammunition, gel blasters and an improvised explosive device, which was a sealed tube filled with shotgun shells and gunpowder.

The property was evacuated by police, so officers from the Bomb Response Unit could attend and make sure the device was safe, so the search could continue.

A 31-year-old Elizabeth Downs man was charged with numerous offences including trafficking a controlled drug, manufacture explosives and firearms offences.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.

Enquiries continue regarding the firearms and other items found at the property, and further arrests may occur.

Anyone with information about the manufacture, sale and possession of illegal drugs or firearms is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
