Foot chase ends in arrest after break-in, South Australia

A man has been arrested after a break-in at a Somerton Park home in the early hours of this morning.

About 4.15am on Sunday 22 November, Southern District patrols were called to Sullivan Street at Somerton Park after the resident phoned police advising his home had been broken into and his mobile phone and credit card stolen had been stolen.

Police were quick to arrive on scene and spotted a man in close proximity of the break. The man ran from police and a short foot chase too place. A 46-year-old man from Port Adelaide was arrested a short time later in the rear yard of a property on Byre Avenue.

The man was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, theft, going equipped, illegal interference and unlawfully on premises.

He was refused police bail to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday 23 November.
