Homicide investigation, Mundingburra

Detectives from Townsville have commenced a homicide investigation following the death of a man in Mundingburra yesterday evening.

At 5.15pm, police were called to a China Street address after an altercation between two men resulted in a 52-year-old receiving a serious wound.

First aid was provided at the scene by police, before paramedics transported the man to the Townsville University Hospital in a critical condition.

The man could not be revived on arrival at hospital and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

A 44-year-old South Townsville man, who was known to the victim, is assisting police with their enquires.

A crime scene was established at the China Street address and investigations are continuing.
