Investment doubles for significant Kepnock SHS project

Premier and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk
  • Extra $12 million in funding for Kepnock State High School's new industrial design and technology facility.
  • The new and improved $22 million project will now be for both junior and senior students.
  • The project will include three junior wood workshops, a junior metal workshop, a senior furnishing workshop and a senior engineering workshop.

Kepnock State High's new industrial design and technology facilities have received a welcome funding boost, with an additional $12 million taking the investment close to $22 million.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Member for Bundaberg Tom Smith visited the school in Bundaberg today to deliver the good news and view new artist impressions of the new build.

The extra funding is set to ensure both senior and junior ITD students can access the facilities at the one site instead of separate locations – with the change made following site inspections and consultation with the school.

The project is set to include three junior wood workshops, a junior metal workshop, a senior furnishing workshop and a senior engineering workshop along with associated specialist rooms, storage, amenities and additional car parking. The funding also takes into consideration construction industry challenges.

Two existing buildings will be demolished following the completion of the new build.
