Work on the job-creating Territory Netball Stadium continues to progress and impress with 70% of the project complete.

The Territory Government and Australian Governments have contributed $11.8 million and $8 million respectively towards this fantastic new Territory netball stadium at the Marrara Sports Precinct.

This new facility will have four indoor, air-conditioned courts including an international standard show court with 2000 seats and broadcast-standard lighting.

The design and construct contract was won by Darwin-based Sunbuild who have created a building that can also be used for indoor events such as concerts and other sports.

More than 100 people will be employed during construction.

The project accelerated in July with wall sheeting installed and most stadium precast completed.

External wall cladding is 70% and the toilet block plasterboard and tiling works have commenced, with tiling expected to be completed by the end of September.

The roof trusses and roof sheeting have also been installed.

There will also be a 155-space underground carpark, change rooms, canteen and conference room.

The project will be delivered on time and on budget.

As stated by the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Lauren Moss

The Territory Labor Government's number one priority is creating local jobs.

"This is why we are investing in sporting infrastructure at the Marrara Sporting Precinct like this, as well as the $25 million Warren Park, the $1.1 million hockey upgrades and $16 million tennis centre.

"This is a smart investment and is good for the economy.

The local netball community has waited a long time for a facility. Its an exciting time for everyone.
