Leading macroeconomists will assemble in Lancaster this summer for the 16th annual Dynare Conference.
Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) will host the event on June 30 and July 1. The conference is being organised by the LUMS Department of Economics, together with Banque de France, DSGE-net, and the Dynare project at CEPREMAP.
The conference will feature leading scholars in dynamic macroeconomic modelling presenting their research across three different topics:
- Heterogeneity in households, firms, information, expectations, banks, housing, and financial intermediaries;
- Structural Changes due to Market Power, Automation, Digitalization, Productivity;
- Monetary and Fiscal Policies in models with Disaster Shocks, Covid Shock, Uncertainty Shocks, Inequality, Non-linearities, and Asymmetries.
It is the first Dynare Conference since 2019, following disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Professor Lorenza Rossi, part of the LUMS organising team for the conference, said: "It is a privilege for us to welcome some of the leading figures in macroeconomics to Lancaster for what is always an engaging event. The Dynare Conference provides the opportunity for us to discuss, debate and discover the latest thinking on key areas of macroeconomics, and this year is sure to be no different."
The keynote addresses will be delivered by Professor Silvaan Tenreyro, an expert in monetary policy, from the London School of Economics; and Professor Jan Eeckhout, of the University of Pompeu Fabra (UPF), Barcelona. Both will hold plenary sessions.
Professor Tenreyro is an external member of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee. Among her other roles in academia and economics, she is President of the European Economic Association, a former co-director and board member of the Review of Economic Studies, and Chair of the Women's Committee of the Royal Economics Society. Her work has been published in top-five journals, including the American Economic Review and the Quarterly Journal of Economics.
Professor Eeckhout's research expertise centres around labour markets and the macroeconomic implications of market power. His work has been published in the American Economic Review, Econometrica and the Quarterly Journal of Economics, and has featured in The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, FT, The New York Times and Bloomberg.
"Both Professor Tenreyro and Professor Eeckhout are sure to add great insight to the conference," Professor Rossi added. "They bring extensive research and practical knowledge from across monetary policy, and the new global economic challenges and structural changes."
