Liaoning Univ. Triumphs in ICC Moot Court China

Today, 10 July 2026, Liaoning University won the Chinese edition of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Moot Court Competition. The final round was held in the ICC's Courtroom I in The Hague (the Netherlands). The Peking University School of Transnational Law and China University of Political Science and Law won, respectively, the second and third places. The award for the Best Speaker went to Xinrui Fang of Peking University School of Transnational Law.

ICC Judge Keebong Paek was the presiding judge for the competition's jury. Members of the winning team are Su Bojia, Ma Haitian, Fan Bingqian, Liu Meirui, Wang Qiran, Wen Jiale, and Zhao Meitong.

The teams competed on a fictitious case, presenting oral arguments in the roles of the Office of the Prosecutor, the Defence and State Counsel. The competition was web-streamed live on the Court's website and Facebook account.

The 2026 version of the ICC Moot Court Competition is organised Leiden University and the Chinese Initiative on International Law. In total, 130 universities participated in the preliminary stage of this year's competition.

ICC Moot Court Competitions are part of the ICC Academic programme, and are organized in English, Spanish, French and Chinese with a view to also support an Arabic version in the future. These initiatives play a critical role in gathering interest in the Court's work with academic communities as well as in enhancing promotion and respect for international criminal law.
