Police have arrested a man after an alleged armed robbery in Long Gully on Sunday night.
Investigators have been told a man entered a service station on Eaglehawk Road about 9.05pm, threatened the attendant with a knife and demanded cash.
The attendant complied and the offender then left the store and got into a blue Mazda 3 which was being driven by a woman.
Two witnesses who saw the man behaving suspiciously have given chase in their vehicle in an attempt to obtain a registration number.
They followed the Mazda till it pulled over to the side of the road.
They slowed their car but the Mazda reversed and rammed into them before driving off.
The women reported the matter to police and officers swarmed the area.
The Mazda was spotted a short time later by members of the Highway Patrol who managed to intercept the vehicle and make an arrest.
A 25-year-old Eaglehawk man is currently assisting police with their enquires.
The woman who was seen driving the car at the time of the alleged offence was not in the vehicle
The investigation is ongoing.
