Man charged following glassing, NSW

A man has been charged following a glassing that occurred at a hotel in Nelson Bay overnight, NSW Police say.

Shortly before 9pm on Saturday 22 April 2017 two men became involved in an altercation in a licensed premise in Stockton Street.

During the altercation police will allege a 30-year-old man was struck to the left side of his face with a schooner glass.

The glass caused a severe laceration to the man’s right ear. He remains in John Hunter Hospital where he is expected to undergo surgery.

About 1.30pm today a 28-year-old man attended Raymond Terrace Police Station where he spoke with detectives.

He was charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail and will appear in Raymond Terrace Local Court tomorrow.
