Now is the time to speak up if you know someone who deserves to be recognised for their community service efforts.

Nominations close soon for Logan City Council's 2021 Australia Day Awards, which will be held on Tuesday, January 26.

The City of Logan's annual Australia Day Awards recognise those who have gone above and beyond for others.

In particular, the awards celebrate those who have reached important milestones in their community service journey, or who have contributed to the welfare of the city over many years.

Two awards are presented: Citizen of the Year and Young Person of the Year.

Wildlife carer Annette Bird was named the 2020 Logan Citizen of the Year in January, while charity volunteer Gabrielle Crotty was the City's 2020 Young Person of the Year.

Mayor Darren Power said the City of Logan Australia Day Awards were among the most important events on Council's calendar.

"These awards are a wonderful opportunity each year to not just recognise, but to thank and commend the efforts of those who tirelessly serve our communities," Cr Power said.

"We are blessed with so many people in Logan who put others before themselves and who work daily to make our region an even better place to live.

"I urge those who know someone who might fit that bill, to please get your nominations in.

"It is so important that we join forces in promoting and encouraging community service in our city."

Nominations for the 2021 Australia Day Awards close on Monday, December 7.

Nominations can be made on the Logan City Council website.
