Not a bright move

Police have arrested a 43-year-old Pakenham man after a laser was allegedly pointed at the police helicopter overnight.

Members of the Air Wing directed ground crews to an address in John Street, Pakenham about 9.30pm after their aircraft was targeted.

A number of units attended and the man ran from police before trying to lock himself in his residence.

Officers went to the rear of the address and entered through the open back door.

They were confronted by the 43-year-old who advanced on police until OC foam was deployed.

A struggle ensued and the man was arrested.

Police allegedly located a laser pointer in the freezer and two imitation firearms in the property.

The 43-year-old is expected to be interviewed for endangering the safe operation of an aircraft, reckless conduct endangering life, possess prohibited weapon, assault police and resist arrest.
