Dr Mina Golshan CBE will join the Nuclear Waste Services (NWS) Board as non-executive director (NED) and Chair of the Environmental, Safety and Security Committee, replacing Neil Baldwin MBE who has announced his departure at the end of his term after five years working with the organisation.
Mina has over 20 years' experience in the nuclear sector and high-hazard industries both in the UK and internationally. She joined SZC Nuclear New Build Generation Ltd, a company owned by EDF and the Government, in 2021 as Safety, Security and Assurance Director for Sizewell C and also spent 12 years at the Office for Nuclear Regulation where she was appointed as a Director in 2015.
She has been a member of several Government Advisory Groups including the Plutonium disposition steering committee and Great British Nuclear, which was established in May 2022. She is a passionate advocate of women in the sector and actively supports the work of academia and the Nuclear Industry Association to attract and retain women in the industry.

I am truly delighted to join the Nuclear Waste Services Board and look forward to working with colleagues to contribute to NWS' vital mission. The next few years will be exciting times; from the work at the Repository site, to demonstrating successful sealing of test boreholes as the work to find a suitable site for a future GDF continues. Mina's arrival signals the upcoming departure of Neil Baldwin MBE who has worked in the nuclear industry for over 40 years in a range of roles and organisations.

After a long career at Sellafield and Magnox, it's been a great experience to spend some time with those who are on the receiving end of waste rather than consigning it. It's widely recognised that a successful waste business is vital to any future nuclear programme, and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to play a small part in the running of LLWR, and more recently the creation of NWS.
Neil started his career at Sellafield as a graduate chemical engineer and went on to become Director at Thorp and the High-Level Waste Plants, followed by Director of Operations for Magnox Ltd, before eventually becoming Managing Director.
He joined the LLWR Board as a Non-Executive Director in 2018 and, as the Independent Safety Director, led the Board in their collective responsibility for leadership and delivery of environment, health, and safety (EH&S) performance. Representing them during LLWR's transition from PBO to subsidiary status, and then into Nuclear Waste Services, when he also joined the RWM Board and NWS Management Board.
