Police charge man with multiple child sex offences at Bathurst

A man will face court charged following an investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of a girl in the state's Central West.

In December 2019, the State Crime Command's Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a 13-year-old girl had been sexually abused by a man known to her.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 22-year-old man at a home at Bathurst about 9.30am yesterday (Tuesday 10 November 2020).

He was taken to Bathurst Police Station, where he was charged with five counts of aggravated sexual assault (victim under the age of 16 years), three counts of intentionally sexually touch child (aged between 10 and 16 years), three counts of indecent assault person under 16 years of age, two counts of assault with intent to have sexual intercourse with child under 10 years, two counts of intentional incite child to do sexual act to them (aged between 10 and 16 years) and attempt sexual intercourse with child (aged between 10 and 14 years).

He was refused bail to appeal at Bathurst Local Court today (Wednesday 11 November 2020).

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
