Police charge man with throwing contraband into facility at Nowra

A man has been charged after allegedly throwing contraband into a correctional facility on the state's South Coast.

Yesterday (Monday 29 June 2020), a 46-year-old man was driving away from a correctional facility, when he allegedly threw a paper bag containing tobacco into the rear of the premises.

The incident was reported to South Coast Police District and inquiries commenced.

Police stopped the vehicle on Central Avenue, South Nowra, a short time later.

A 46-year-old man, who is currently disqualified from driving until May 2021, was arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station.

He was charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period and unlawfully bring etc anything into place of detention.

He was refused bail and is due to face Nowra Local Court on Friday 3 July 2020.
