Police investigate assault on train at Southern Cross

Police are hoping to identify a man following an assault in which a woman was spat on on a train in Docklands last month.

Investigators have been told the victim, a 32-year-old Brunswick woman, boarded a Laverton bound train at Southern Cross Station about 8.10pm on 30 May.

The woman took a seat in the second carriage and observed a male littering on the train.

The male then approached the woman, became aggressive and spat on her.

Police have released an image of a man who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged between 40 and 50-years-old, with short brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with who recognises the man is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
