Police investigate serious crash - Austin St at Wynyard

Police are investigating a serious crash in Wynyard overnight in which a 27 year old Victorian man received serious but non life threatening injuries.

Police and emergency services were called to Austin Street, Wynyard about 6.30pm last night in relation to a report of a hooning vehicle that lost control and crashed into a parked vehicle.

On arrival police ascertained a red Holden Commodore had crashed into a parked Nissan X-Trail, causing significant damage to the X-Trail.

There were no occupants in the X-Trail at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Commodore was a 39 year old Riverside man who wasn't injured but was conveyed to the North West Regional Hospital for blood alcohol testing.

The 27 year old man injured was the front seat passenger. He received internal injuries and was flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital for emergency surgery. It is believed his injuries are serious but non-life-threatening.
