Wyndham Art Gallery is excited to announce two new exhibitions IWARA and Enduring to celebrate the significant role First Nations artists play within our gallery and community.

The exhibitions open on Thursday 8 June and will run until Sunday 30 July and will feature at Wyndham Art Gallery during NAIDOC week.

Wyndham City's Creative City portfolio holder, Marcel Mahfoud said: "Come and visit the Wyndham Art Gallery and see two powerful and unique exhibitions foregrounding the work of pre-eminent First Nations artists."

IWARA is upstairs and is a solo exhibition by Robert Fielding, a contemporary artist of Yankunytjatjara, Western Arrente, Pakistani and Afghan descent.

He combines contemporary art with ancient ways of being that unfold in extraordinary artworks and providing a glimpse into his world and the lives and culture of his community.

Featured downstairs, Enduring is Wyndham City's First Nations Visual Art acquisitions from the past three years and features significant works that centre around history, place and identity.

Artists Tony Albert, Maree Clarke, Michael Cook, Peter Waples-Crowe, Karen Casey and Aunty Marlene Gilson will be on show presenting some of these works to our community for the first time.

"Our program at Wyndham Art Gallery has a unique role to play in story-telling and celebrating perspectives that support the ongoing creation of an inclusive and diverse community."
