    A request for proposals to complete marine works on the project will be advertised within a few weeks with final tenders to be awarded shortly after that.

    Early site works will begin in October.

    The register of Pilbara businesses will be provided to prospective lead contractors to fast-track engagement of local workers and material suppliers.

    • public recreation and event space and public amenities;
    • public fishing jetty;
    • water feature;
    • shade structures at swimming beach;

    As stated by Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan:

    "The McGowan Government is committed to giving local businesses the opportunity to secure work on government projects, helping to create local jobs and pump money into the local economy.

    "The Spoilbank Marina is a massive project for Hedland and will involve considerable work opportunities for Pilbara businesses.

    "This register gives local businesses the chance to get in early and flag their interest and expertise in civil infrastructure projects, ensuring the best possible opportunity to be a part of this transformational project."

    As stated by Pilbara MLA Kevin Michel:

    "We're urging Hedland businesses to register now, so local businesses and workers are front-and-centre on the Spoilbank Marina project.

    "This project will create more than 200 jobs during construction, and will provide a boost to the local economy as the State recovers from COVID-19.

    "This is a great example of the McGowan Government's commitment to local content and local jobs in the Pilbara and across regional WA."
