Three boys, two aged 17 and one aged 16, are in police custody following the alleged robbery of a ride share operator at Coomera and a traffic crash at Ormeau overnight.
Around 11.10pm a 31-year-old ride share driver was returning to his Toyota Camry at a service station on the M1 at Coomera when it is alleged three males assaulted him and stole his car.
The driver was not seriously injured during the robbery.
A short time later at 11.30pm the stolen Toyota Camry was involved in a traffic crash on the M1 at Ormeau.
It is alleged the stolen Toyota Camry was in company with a stolen Hyundai Kona on the M1 northbound when the Kona vehicle allegedly clipped a Toyota Rav before rolling and coming to rest on the centre guard rail. A Hyundai i20 (not stolen) has then hit the stolen Kona vehicle.
Police located the stolen Toyota Camry with the occupants parked on the side of the road a short distance away from the crash scene and all were taken into custody.
A 17-year-old female driver and a 14-year-old girl from the Hyundai i20 were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.
Police investigations are ongoing.
