Total Fire Ban for Mallee and Wimmera revoked

Today was declared a day of Total Fire Ban (TFB) for the Mallee and Wimmera districts based on the forecast of hot and dry conditions and strong winds.

The conditions today are milder than predicted and the severe fire danger rating will not be reached.

CFA is aware of the impact TFBs have on farming communities and associated agricultural practices and are constantly monitoring fire and weather conditions.

CFA Deputy Chief Officer (DCO) Alen Slijepcevic said "after discussions with the Bureau of Meteorology and surveying moisture content on the ground, there is no longer a need for a TFB today."

"We know that farmers are keen to continue their harvest this time of year, and have taken this action to remove the restrictions that a TFB brings," said DCO Slijepcevic.
