The delegation of Tomsk State University took part in the 15th International High Energy Materials Conference & Exhibits ( HEMCE 2026 ) held in Hyderabad (India). During the visit, the parties agreed on joint research in the field of artificial intelligence and 3D printing technologies in materials science, combustion of high-energy materials, detection technology to trace explosives at a distance and traces of life under the snow during avalanches. Colleagues from India expressed their interest in creating mirror laboratories for joint research and joint educational programs.
On the sidelines of the conference, the parties signed the Minutes of the Meeting confirming the above initiatives.
The conference was organised by the High Energy Materials Society of India (HEMSI) in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Over 500 participants from India, Germany, the Czech Republic, Russia, and a delegation of Rosoboronexport JSC (Delhi) joined the conference.
The team of the World-Class Research Center "New Special Purpose Materials" represented Tomsk State University.
Alexander Vorozhtsov, Director of the World-Class Research Center, participated as a keynote speaker at the plenary session and reported the main achievements of TSU and the World-Class Research Center for the study of high-energy and special nanomaterials, as well as in related areas of synthesis, study of properties and development of functional systems. He presented the interaction of research teams of TSU and FR&PC Altai (industrial partner of the World-Class Research Center) in the areas of mathematical modeling, synthesis, research, development, etc.
- The World-Class Research Center implements four interconnected areas of activity: Technologies for the production of composite materials and products based on them, Technologies of high-energy materials and systems, Technologies for the production and use of new biomedical materials and Methods of artificial intelligence for the development of materials and optimization of technological processes for obtaining these materials, - Alexander Vorozhtsov specified in his plenary report.

The representatives of the Defense Research and Development Organization - DRDO (Ministry of Defence, Government of India) and TSU with the participation and support of Rosoboronexport JSC (M.N. Yashchenko - official representative of this organization in India) had a meeting within the framework of the conference. Prof. Alexander Vorozhtsov and Dr. Prateek Kishore, Armament & Combat Engineering Systems, Distinguished Scientist & Director General, signed a cooperation agreement. The parties agreed for joint research on high-energy materials. They also discussed the joint educational program in such specialized fields as molecular modeling of new materials, modeling of gas-dynamic processes and combustion in high-energy systems and others. The parties proposed to create mirror research and educational laboratories addressing the tasks of mutual interest.
For reference: In November 2025 Tomsk State University together with the Defense Research and Development Organization of the Ministry of Defence of India (DRDO) organized the International Conference "XX International Workshop on HEMs-2025: Future Trends in Propulsion Technologies" in India. More than 300 experts in the field of new materials and technologies for ensuring security attended the conference from Russia and India. The TSU team demonstrated advanced developments in the field of high-tech materials, AI, radio vision and humanitarian demining. The next meeting with the representatives of India will be held in September 2026 in Tomsk at the HEMs International Conference.
