Visits restricted at all Queensland prisons

Due to community transmission of COVID-19 in South East Queensland, Queensland Corrective Services is cancelling personal visits in all Queensland prisons until further notice under Stage 3 restrictions.

The decision was made following consultation with Queensland Health, and affects all high and low security prisons in Queensland.

Virtual Personal Visits, email, phones and mail will be unaffected.

Wearing of masks will be mandatory for staff in correctional centres in Stage 3.

Queensland Corrective Services will continue to work closely with Queensland Health, and as soon as we are advised it is safe to recommence visits, we will do so.

We appreciate the impact of cancelling visits, and thank families for their patience as we work to keep COVID-19 out of our centres.

Community Corrections will also move to Stage 3 restrictions.

People who are required to attend our offices should contact their case officer to organise alternative arrangements.
