Works scheduled this week at Port Kembla Pool - Wollongong

On Friday 18 December, we'll be starting works on the Port Kembla Pool pipeline to manage the ongoing build-up of sand.

During this time the Port Kembla Pool will be closed all day and is scheduled to reopen as usual on Saturday 19 December.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said that Council has an ongoing commitment to improving and maintaining community assets and facilities.

"The works on the Port Kembla Pool pipeline aims to manage the ongoing build-up of sand that has accumulated in the northern corner of Port Kembla Beach. Our crews will be working on Friday to replace and raise the northern pipeline that pumps water into the pool."

"On Friday, depending on weather conditions and sea swell, we'll have divers in the water as part of our works on the pipeline. To manage this, we'll be closing the Port Kembla Pool to ensure the safety of our both works crews in the water and pool-goers."

Works on the Port Kembla Pool pipeline are anticipated to finish Friday afternoon depending on weather, seas tide and swell conditions.

"The good news is the scheduled works will only take a short period of time and Port Kembla Pool will be back in action for the weekend," said Cr Bradbery.

"This year, we've implemented a new pool booking system to manage all of our freshwater and saltwater pools. If you plan to visit Port Kembla Pool, or any of our other pools, make sure you jump online and make a booking to guarantee your swim."
