11 people arrested after Northbridge incident

Perth Police have charged 11 people after an incident in Northbridge this morning, 23 August 2020 where a police officer was assaulted and others had bottles thrown at them.

Around 4am, Police were monitoring a crowd of approximately 200 mostly intoxicated people who had left an event at a club on James Street. As the crowd moved towards a carpark behind the club, several fights broke out within the group.

Calls for the crowd to disperse were ignored and an Out of Control Gathering was declared and more officers attended to assist.

During the incident a Police Officer was punched to the face and was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment of a possible fractured jaw. Another officer was spat at in the face and several bottles were thrown at officers and police vehicles.

Two men aged 22 and 20 have been charged with Assault Public Officer and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Six men and three women aged between 19 and 21 will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date on various offences including Fail to Comply with an Order; Disorderly Conduct; Fail to Provide Person Details; False Details and Excess 0.05%.
