Councillor Ranka Rasic elected new Brimbank Mayor

Cr Ranka Rasic will lead the municipality for the next 12 months after being elected by her fellow Councillors on 17 November 2020.

This is Cr Rasic's first time as Mayor and also her first time as a Brimbank Councillor.

Cr Rasic said she looked forward to the opportunity to lead Council, and thanked everyone who had supported her, and also her fellow Councillors for voting her in as Mayor.

"I am very grateful for the opportunity to represent the best municipality in Victoria.

"When I migrated to Australia in the 90s, Brimbank became my home.

"I want to continue the special legacy of inclusion that is embodied in our City.

"As Mayor of Brimbank I look forward to the important tasks we have before us, of improving and enhancing our City to ensure the best possible quality of life for our community, and of supporting and advocating for Brimbank through the process of recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.

"It will be my privilege to lead our Council as we work with our community to make Brimbank a better place for all," Cr Rasic said.

Cr Ranka Rasic was elected Mayor and Cr Jasmine Nguyen was elected Deputy Mayor of Brimbank at a Council Meeting on 17 November that was livestreamed to the public. A recording of the meeting will be made available on Council's website.

The newly elected Brimbank Council was sworn in for a four-year term on Tuesday 10 November 2020.
